Music Therapy and its Impact on Dementia

Studies show that music significantly improves the quality of life for individuals with dementia. Learn what music therapy is, how it works, and why it benefits the brain so profoundly. We will discuss the impact of music on individuals with memory loss, and how music can be used to enhance the care provided to individuals with dementia.

Course Objectives:

At completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe why music enhances and optimizes the brain
  2. Identify the benefits of music therapy for persons with dementia
  3. Describe how music enhances the care provided to a person with dementia

Savvy Caregiver Express 3-week Series (Zoom Class)

The Savvy Caregiver Express program is an evidence-informed, 6 hour training provided over 3 weeks, resulting in caregivers who possess greater confidence, greater understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and practical skills to improve quality of life and support.

Participants should attend all sessions: August 10,17 & 24 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Those completing this nationally-acclaimed course gain:

  • Personal knowledge, skills and caregiving perspective
  • Skills to assess abilities of their loved ones with dementia
  • Confidence to set and alter caregiving goals
  • Strategies to manage activities of daily living
  • Understanding of the disease progression

The OK Chorale meets every Wednesday afternoon at 1:30PM-2:30PM.
