For persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, communication and personal expression can be challenging. The Memories in the Making© art program is a unique approach that allows individuals with memory loss to express themselves through their artwork, even when the words are no longer there. Learn how to use this successful method to improve communication and understand behaviors associated with dementia. No artistic background is necessary to benefit from Memories in the
Making®.

  • Recognize the symptoms of dementia
  • Understand the principles and techniques of compassionate communication
  • Describe how artistic expression can benefit people with dementia
  • Practice techniques that improve communication with Memories in the Making® artists
