The Other Dementias: A Look Under the Dementia Umbrella

Under the umbrella term of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease is only one of the many types that exist. We will take a closer look at many of the non-Alzheimer’s forms of dementia, including Vascular, Lewy Body, Parkinson’s, Frontotemporal, Primary Progressive Aphasia, and other sleep, mood and anxiety disorders. Presented by UCI Health Behavioral Neurologist, Dr. Brian Hitt, we will learn about the causes, symptoms, treatments and how these forms of dementia are diagnosed.

At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Recognize forms of dementia that are not Alzheimer’s disease.
• Identify key features of other forms of dementia.
• Describe how various forms of dementia are assessed and diagnosed.
