Staff Training
Our professional and highly-skilled staff are required to complete comprehensive and continuous training to ensure they provide the highest level of care for our residents and their families.
Monthly Training
Staff members receive monthly continuing education to train them on a variety of topics including:
- Nutrition, Home Food Safety, and Preparation
- Enhancing Meal Times and Activities
- Medication Management (Ordering New Medications, Refills, Crushing, Medication Rights)
- Preventing Urinary Tract Infections (UTI’s) and Infection Control
- Skin Integrity (Reporting skin changes)
- End of Life Care (medications, coping with loss, POLST)
- Residents’ Rights
- Safe Lifting, Transfers and Reducing Falls
- Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s)
- Beauty Care
- Emergency Preparedness
Cottage Training Program
This training program teaches staff how to properly care for residents living with dementia and how to meet their unique needs. As part of the program staff learns about:
- Communicating with the Memory-Impaired Person
- Do’s and Don’ts of Memory Care
- Redirection Techniques
- Stages of Alzheimer’s Disease (Early, Middle and Late)
- Positive “Therapeutic Fibbing”
- Validation Therapy
- Activities – the Key to Keeping Boredom Away
- Medication Training
- Redirection Techniques
