Cultural Awareness in Dementia Care (Zoom)

Cultural awareness is a necessity when providing quality, person centered care. This course offers an in-depth exploration of cultural factors influencing dementia care, fostering sensitivity, and understanding among caregivers. Participants will examine how diverse cultural backgrounds shape perceptions, behaviors, and caregiving approaches, enhancing their ability to provide person-centered care. Through interactive sessions and case studies, learners will develop practical strategies to navigate cultural nuances effectively in dementia care settings.

At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe what cultural awareness looks like in dementia care.
  2. Develop strategies to effectively communicate with individuals with dementia and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
