This course provides a comprehensive overview of the complexities of LBD—including its diagnostic challenges, fluctuating cognitive and behavioral symptoms, motor and sleep-related features, and unique care considerations. Participants will examine the differences between LBD, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease dementia; explore high-risk concerns such as fall risk, medication sensitivities, and rapid functional decline; and learn evidence-informed strategies to improve safety, communication, quality of life, and caregiver well-being. Practical tools, resources, and interdisciplinary approaches are highlighted to empower professionals to provide informed, compassionate, and person-centered care

III. Course Objectives:

At completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the core clinical features, diagnostic criteria, and hallmark symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia
  2. Differentia Lewy Body Dementia from Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s disease dementia
  3. Evaluate the medical, behavioral, and functional challenges faced by people living with LBD and their care partners
