This course provides a comprehensive overview of the complexities of LBD—including its diagnostic challenges, fluctuating cognitive and behavioral symptoms, motor and sleep-related features, and unique care considerations. Participants will examine the differences between LBD, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease dementia; explore high-risk concerns such as fall risk, medication sensitivities, and rapid functional decline; and learn evidence-informed strategies to improve safety, communication, quality of life, and caregiver well-being. Practical tools, resources, and interdisciplinary approaches are highlighted to empower professionals to provide informed, compassionate, and person-centered care
III. Course Objectives:
At completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the core clinical features, diagnostic criteria, and hallmark symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia
- Differentia Lewy Body Dementia from Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s disease dementia
- Evaluate the medical, behavioral, and functional challenges faced by people living with LBD and their care partners
