This four-part series explores practical strategies to help caregivers adapt their communication style, respond to changing abilities, and maintain meaningful connection at every stage of the dementia journey.

Discover why flexibility is one of the most powerful communication tools in dementia care. This session explores how shifting expectations, avoiding corrections, and responding creatively can reduce frustration and help conversations feel more natural and supportive.
Thursday, August 13 10:00a-11:00a Session 2 – Saying No Without Saying No
Learn practical ways to set boundaries and guide behavior without creating conflict. This session introduces strategies such as redirection, offering choices, and reframing responses so caregivers can maintain safety while preserving dignity and cooperation.
Thursday, August 20 10:00a-11:00a Session 3 – When Words Stop Working
As dementia progresses, verbal communication often becomes more difficult. This session focuses on understanding behavior as communication and using tone, body language, visual cues, and environmental support to improve understanding and reduce distress.
Thursday, August 27 10:00a-11:00a Session 4 – Connection Beyond Conversation
Even when language fades, meaningful connection is still possible. This session explores ways to communicate through presence, emotion, music, touch, and shared experiences, helping caregivers maintain closeness and comfort throughout the later stages of dementia.
