Changes in memory, thinking, or behavior are not always caused by dementia. Three conditions—depression, delirium, and dementia—can produce similar symptoms but require very different responses and treatments. Understanding how to recognize these differences can help families and professionals respond quickly and ensure individuals receive the right care.
In this informative class, participants will learn the key characteristics of each condition, common warning signs, and how these conditions may overlap or be mistaken for one another. We will explore when sudden changes in cognition may signal a medical emergency, how mood disorders can affect thinking and memory, and why accurate diagnosis is critical.
Through real-life examples and practical guidance, this session will help participants recognize red flags, communicate concerns effectively with healthcare providers, and better understand how to support someone experiencing cognitive or behavioral changes.
