Healthy Aging Center: Acacia (formerly Acacia Adult Day services) and Healthy Aging Center: Laguna Woods (formerly South County Adult Day services) have been providing services aimed at promoting healthy aging, well-being and independence for Orange County’s older adults for a combined 40+ years. Both of these centers provide adult day services to serve the medical and social needs of individuals who are living at home, but need daytime assistance for their health needs.
Q: What are adult day services?
A: Adult day services provide care during the day for older adults and other individuals that need care in a safe, engaging, and communal setting. Participants can make friends and socialize with others, stay active through exercise, get physical and occupational therapy, play games, and enjoy other interactive activities. Nutritious meals are also provided.
Q: Who are adult day services for?
A: Our centers’ services are for anyone over the age of 18 living with dementia or another disability such as:
– Adults who are aging in place
– Individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients
– Parkinson’s and stroke
– Isolated and lonely individuals
– People experiencing depression
– Frail and dependent individuals
– Individuals suffering from chronic conditions (diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, etc.)
Q: What do adult day services offer for those enrolled?
A: Our centers offer two programs, a day program and a healthcare program. Both programs will provide:
– Transportation to and from the center
– Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks
– Person-centered therapeutic activities such as: daily exercise, music therapy, art classes, balance/mobility classes, pet therapy and much more.
– General caregiver support services
A health care program will offer in addition to the above:
– Nursing services and medication management
– Dietary services and monitoring
– Occupational therapy
– Physical therapy
– Speech therapy
– Therapeutic recreational activities
– Social services including counseling

A: Caring for your loved one can be a challenging and a time-consuming responsibility. The adult day services offered by our Healthy Aging Centers can offer needed respite to give you a break and give you time for other essential activities in your life while also ensuring your loved one gets the care they need. Together our centers work with participants, their families, and primary care physician to maintain personal independence and promote healthy aging. Our person-centered approach focuses on delivering key essential health and wellness services appropriate to each participant that helped thousands of local families.
