A recap of our time with KSBR News

By Staff Blogger/ July, 2019

Alzheimer’s Orange County was recently been featured on  88.5 KSBR News! In a recent radio broadcast, KSBR News Director Dawn Kamber welcomed our very own Patty Mouton (Alzheimer’s Orange County’s VP of Outreach & Advocacy), Ben Allen (Alzheimer’s Orange County’s Memories in the Making® coordinator), and Julie Schock (South County Adult Day Services Program Director).

The show gives listeners a rundown on Alzheimer’s disease – what it is, what it looks like, and how we are working towards a solution. Patty discusses the importance of early detection as well as the importance of undoing the stigma towards cognitive disease in our society.

Ben shares moving words about the Memories in the Making® art program, expressing the importance of art in stimulating the brain and allowing people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory loss to engage in creative, meaningful activities. Julie then discusses South County Adult Day Services, an adult day health center managed and operated by Alzheimer’s Orange County, which offers daily activities (such as Memories in the Making®), socialization, therapies and supervision for older adults in need of daytime care. We would like to thank KSBR News and Dawn Kamber for having us on the show and giving us the opportunity to educate our community about Alzheimer’s and the services available to help those affected.
